- New community extension. 0006 Flat Omit Prefix Storage Layout: This is the format being used at Harvard for migrating their objects to OCFL
- Email and process for release 1.1: No breaking changes -- looking to have it complete by the end of the year
- Discussion: ZIP per version storage: usecase-33
- Clarification: This will be included in 2.0
- Discussion about the use case. How does it relate to Spec Issue #555
- National Libraries of Norway: Filesystem not well suited for storing many small files. Would like versions to be zipped to get around this problem. Would like to use split-zips. Would like to be able to see into packed layout.
- Standford had similar problem with Moab. They solved it by moving the zipping outside of Moab, and deposited the zips into Moab. When making backups of the Moab content they create zips of versions.
- If you're depositing zips, do you expose the contents in OCFL or is that part of the content. Julian is in favor of that being a sidecar in the object content; not a concern of OCFL.
- Do Fedora users have any interest in zips? Not really that we're aware of.
- Next community meeting: Wednesday August 11th 6pm EST or 3pm PST | Thursday June 10th 10am AEDT
