Translating message strings

Translations for WinDynamicDesktop are managed online using POEditor. If you want to help translate the project, you can join here.

After translating the messages in POEditor, you can test your translation using the instructions below. If at least 50% of messages have been translated for a new language, your translation will be added to the next release of WinDynamicDesktop.

Testing new translations

  1. Select "More Options" -> "Edit Configuration File" from the WinDynamicDesktop system tray menu (see image below).
  2. Find the line in the config file that says "language": "XXX" (where XXX is the ID of the language you currently have selected). Change the language ID on this line to match the language you are translating in POEditor and add the prefix "poeditor:" (e.g., "poeditor:es" for Spanish). You can find your language's ID here.
  3. Save the config file and restart WinDynamicDesktop. Now every time you restart the app, it will automatically download the latest translation from POEditor and use it.
  4. To revert this change after you are done testing the translation, change the language using the "Select Language" dialog.
