  • Agenda  Items

    • Last meeting
      • hchiramm sends a patch that adds the new maintainers/components to the MAINTAINERS file
      • hagarth needs to send a cleanup patch for the MAINTAINERS file to remove inactive maintainers (add a allumni section?)
      • JustinClift to create initial GlusterFS Release Checklist page on the wiki
        • Done
      • JustinClift fix the "wiki" link on gluster.org to redirect to the wiki and not to the blog
        • tigert and misc are the right people to fix this.  Justin is on leave after today.
      • hchiramm will try to fix the duplicate syndication of posts from blog.nixpanic.net
        • TBD.
      • Debloper to write  a blog post about complete revamp
        • hagarth to remind
      • jdarcy schedules a "small file performance" meeting
      • davemc to chat semiosis on ubuntu release
        • done, passed on to kkeithley and partner
      • kkeithley and partner will keep an eye on getting debian and ubuntu packages updated
      • atinmu continues looking into the mgmt_v3 regression test issue
        • Done, patch to be merged.
      • atinmu will look for someone that can fix the spurious fop-sanity test
      • atinmu will contact JustinClift to update the regression.sh script and capture /var/log/messages too
        • Is this still needed?  My impression of the mailing list conversation was that it was canned.
      • raghu` creates a 3.6.2 beta today (10 december) or tomorrow, release follows later this week or early next week
      • JustinClift and misc should post an update or plan about upgrading Gerrit
        • The upgrade itself shouldn't be hard.  We just don't have a full backup plan in place yet first, prior to doing it.
          • Backing up the data dirs and gerrit .jar should do the trick tho, then update the .jar and restart.  In theory, that should be all that's needed. ;)
      • TBD  ndevos, lalatenduM, kkeithley and Humble to propose a long term solution to the packaging problem in CentOS/RHEL
        • No update this week. TBD
      • davemc to add pointer to wiki from site

          • Wiring needs to start for temp fix page
      • JustinClift to respond to Soumya Deb on gluster-infra about website
        • This should be tigert instead probably.  Bother of them are invested in the GlusterFS website, so should co-ordinate.

  • Gluster 3.6

  • 3.5.4

  • 3.4.7

      • No longer needed
    • lalatenduM send a bug triage email announcing the process, and call for volunteers
      • Due next week
    • JustinClift to get initial GlusterFS Consultants and Support Companies page online
      • Not done.  Low priority atm.
    • JustinClift to ask lala about status of "lalatenduM send a bug triage email announcing the process, and call for volunteers"
      • Done. :)
    • kkeithley to email gluster-devel about the reviews needed for cppcheck stuff on master
      • To be done today.
      • nagging, guilt, threats, bribes, nothing works. ;-(
    • JustinClift to create blog post of latest leaderboard stats, after receiving from hagarth
      • Leaderboard stats received.  Blog post needs to be done (today).
    • JustinClift to encourage Tamas Papp to log a bug bout   http://supercolony.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2014-July/018219.html
      • Initial email to Tamas sent on 22nd August to see if it's resolved.  If not we'll create a BZ and investigate from there.
    • ndevos will verify status of patches proposed for 3.5.3 and request reviews for those patches in master
      • Mostly done.  Dependant on kkeithleys email.
    • JustinClift to test out Gitorious 3.x, to see if it's better than GitLab
      • Done.  Gitorious 3.x is better than Gitorious 2.x usability wise, but is still a very far cry from GitHub.
        • No integrated issue tracking (extremely important)
        • No Milestones
        • No Releases (eg compiled binaries, ISOs, etc)
        • Merge request handling is still very clunky.  No button in the UI for merging requests (needs to be manually done from CLI and pushed)
        • Doesn't seem to have any kind of repo "website" traffic graphs (eg referring websites)
      • Tried out GitLab GitLab 6.9.2 (the self hosted instance that that Jason Brooks looks after for OSAS)
        • Note - This is an older version of GitLab.  Version 7.2.0 is available for download from the gitlab.org website
        • Upstream GitLab changelog - https://github.com/gitlabhq/gitlabhq/blob/master/CHANGELOG
        • GitLab has integrated issue tracking
        • Has Milestones
        • Doesn't seem to have Releases either :(
        • Has much better Graphs (eg commits over time analysis, contributor commits, analysis)
        • Doesn't seem to have any kind of repo "website" traffic graphs (eg referring websites)
      • My feeling is that GitLab is where we want to go if we want a paid-for solution.  Else we investigate GitHub, though I'm unsure if/how that'd work in with our Gerrit setup. (maybe no change?)
    • kkeithley will nag pranithk about fixes for 3.4.6
      • Done :)
    • kkeithley DHT backport 3.5.3->3.4.6  https://bugzilla.redhat.com:443/show_bug.cgi?id=1116150https://bugzilla.redhat.com:443/show_bug.cgi?id=1117851
      • not done
    • ndevos to add branch checking to rh-bugs
    • hagarth to evolve plan for the test weekend and update schedule for 3.6
      • TBD, please see topic on 3.6
    • kkeithley to discuss -dev and -geo-rep  subpackages for Debian with pmatthai
      • done, not needed, Debian doesn't mind bloated packages
    • hagarth, JustinClift and misc to evolve a proposal for web site maintenance
      • in progress on gluster-infra
    • ndevos when we know how to update the webpage, add a pointer to proposed features for new contributors
      • TBD
    • kkeithley will talk to Ira and Jose about samba packaging.

      • Done

  • 3.5

  • 3.6

  • Other agenda items

    • cppcheck  fixes nag. We missed 3.5.2 because they have not been accepted on  master, and now 3.6. We got them in 3.4 so that Ubuntu would update to a  recent release. This is sad.
    • packaging 3.5.2 for Debian
      • add -dev and -geo-rep sub-packages, anything else?
    • Bugzilla has been updated with new Versions, Target Releases, and components
      • would we want sub-components? E.g. xlator component w/ dht,afr,etc.,etc. sub-components?
    • Website maintenance strategy?
    • Where to propose and keep a list of projects for people who'd like to develop something?

    • pranithk & Nithya to write documentation for dht
    • JustinClift to set up OSX VM's, for hooking into Jenkins
      • In progress.  An OSX 10.7.5 VM set up, but the virt platform (VirtualBox) seems impressively inefficient.  Going to switch it to VMware Fusion first instead, to see if that's workable.
      • Also, since the VM's are not on the public internet, we'll likely hook them up to an internal RH Jenkins instance for now instead of the public one.  Results will still go to public Gerrit though.
  • 3.4

    • There was a mem leak patch mentioned by Pranith.  Should we roll a 3.4.6 with it, or maybe a 3.4.5-2 rpm?

      • Done

      • Should be feasible for next week, now that Glupy patch has been merged

      • Not done yet.  If it's not done by next week, we'll either drop it or someone else will do it.

      • Done
  • 3.5

    • We don't seem to have user docs for the new features in 3.5.  We shouldn't release 3.5 until that's fixed.
    • We don't seem to have user docs for the features in 3.4 either (that are also in 3.5).  We shouldn't release 3.5 until the 3.4 features in it have docs too.
  • 3.4

  • Other agenda items

    • Gluster Forge: upgrade gitorious or switch to gitlab
      • kshlm to look into alternatives, then email gluster-devel
    • / on build.gluster.org keeps filling up. cores in /, large /var/log/httpd/access*, and regression, smoke, and rh-bugid build results are the biggest causes. :-(
      • Sounds appropriate for discussion on gluster-infra
    • Do we have someone to take over RPM packaging for Fedora and download.gluster.org?
      • hagarth said a new hire came on board in BLR who could do that.
