User Manual
The login page is located at https://sel2-1.ugent.be/login. We only support logging in with email.
Before being able to log in, you need to make sure you have a valid account, either by registering one yourself or using one that has been provided to you. A forgot password option is present and will send an e-mail with a link to reset your password.
Once you are logged in, you will be rerouted to a waiting page if your account is disabled, otherwise you will be routed to the projects page.
The register page is accessible through the link in the login page or by visiting https://sel2-1.ugent.be/register. Here you can create a new user by filling in the required form fields.
Once you have successfully created an account, you will be rerouted back to the login page where you can fill in those credentials and start using the application.
The users page is accessible by Admins and Coaches, however only Admins will be able to change the roles of users by changing the value of the select box in the right-most column of the table.
You can also search for users by name. To do this, click the magnifying glass next to the Name header and fill in the name of the user. This search is case-insensitive. To close this search bar, click on the red X.
It is also possible to send an invite by e-mail from this page by using the controls at the top of this page.
The editions page is only accessible by admins and makes it possible to view previous editions. The current edition will be marked with an active
flag and will always be the first edition listed. You can delete editions by clicking the red trashcan icon.
You can create a new edition by pressing the plus
-icon. This will open a form where you can input the name of this new edition. There is however no ability to update the current active edition, as this is something that has many consequences and we are not sure if we can trust all the admins with this kind of power. Follow the Set an active edition
wiki post to do this.
When clicking the Open Edition
button, you will be able to view different editions. This button updates the "currently looking at..." edition of the application. Route through this edition by using the links in the header.
The projects page consists of two parts. The projects list and the students list. An admin can create a new project by clicking the 'create new project' button top right. An admin can also edit or delete projects by clicking the edit icon next to the name of a project. This is also how you can change the assigned coaches and add, edit or remove positions. To create a position with a new skill, simply type in the skill name and press enter instead of selecting an existing skill.
To assign a student to a project, simply drag the student onto the project, a popup message will ask you to choose a position and give a reason for the assignment. To remove a student from a project, simply click the red X-mark next to the student, a popup will appear to ask you for confirmation.
You can search a project by name simply by typing into the search bar at the top and pressing enter or clicking the magnifying glass.
The sidebar with student results allows searching by name in the same way, as well as presenting the user with quite a few filter options. Simply changing one of the filter options will automatically apply the filter. Assigning or removing a student to or from a project will also update this list if the relevant filter is turned on.
By clicking on the 'show conflicts' button, the main part of the screen will switch from showing all projects to showing a list of students with more than one assignment to the right of the page. Clicking on one of these students will show all the projects this student is assigned to, as well as giving all students on those projects that have more than one assignment a red background. To make it easier to re-assign students, projects won't disappear from this list when you un-assign the conflicting student, this allows users to add a new student as a replacement. Once a student has only one assignment left, you can remove the student from the conflicts list by clicking the x-mark next to the name in the list to the right. The projects and students list of course updates in real-time to show any new conflicts emerging.
To select a student, simply click on the student or drag the student onto the main window from the left sidebar. Once a student is selected, each coach can give a suggestion for this student including a motivation by using the controls at the top right. An admin can use the extra controls to set a final status for each student.
The same sidebar as on the projects page is present here. It will also automatically update if you change the status of a student or add a suggestion to a student.
This page shows all messages send to all students. At the top, two buttons allow you to either download the current table or to add a new communication. You can search this table by name, the download file will also be updated to only include the filtered results.
