Work Statement
Working Draft
- this Community Group is open but not finalized, so this statement is reflecting the current ongoing work to form the group.
- this Work Statement is open for ideas, edits and improvements to help shape this new Community Group.
To engage and empower accessibility professionals to advance the W3C WAI mission through community driven initiatives.
This could include:
- Developing community group resources that complement the existing resources on the WAI website
- Creating new outreach efforts to highlight content on the WAI website
- Acting as a resource for W3C Working Groups
The work of the CG includes:
- Creating and maintaining a repository of community-built resources that complement WAI
- Being a group of active participants that are continually contributing to resources
- Vetting and highlighting external resources that relate to and support this groups resources
- Being available to W3C Working Groups and Task Forces to assist in writing specifications and resources
Explicitly out of scope for the CG is:
- Developing accessibility standards
- Providing/conducting accessibility evaluations
- Vetting existing external resources for the soul purpose of listing those resources on a "accessibility topic" page.
- Being an open forum for accessibility questions from the community (there is an existing WAI Interest Group for this)
- Being a direct continuation of EOWG
- The community group maintains a repository of resources, in GitHub to allow for easy collaboration
- The community group participants contribute in work streams, with a work stream lead and work stream contributors
- The work streams are determined by community group participants, based on interest to create new accessibility resources (generally one work stream per resource being developed)
- The community group maintains its own social media presence to highlight its work and any related WAI resources
- Individuals/small groups propose resource to wider group
- Gather participants to help in creating resource (if needed) and create a work stream
- Resources will be managed in GitHub to allow for easy participation
- Regular check-ins with wider group
- Once the resource is deemed ready for publication:
- The wider group will do final review
- Work stream will edit as necessary
- Publish on GitHub Pages
The communications of the Advancing Accessibility Resources Community Group are publicly visible. Communication mechanisms include:
- Community Group homepage
- Publicly archived mailing list
