Altium Download Tutorial
In order to develop PCBs for ehw, you need to use Altium. Luckily, since we are studnets, we can get a free license here. Make sure you use your umich email when signing up. Fill out this portion of the screen and hit submit.
You will receive an email shortly letting you know you have access to Altium. This email will also provide a path to download Altium for those who want to use it on their own personal machines. If you are using CAEN, Altium is already downloaded on those machines.
Reminder: You need to renew your license every 6 months!!!
In order to put your license to use, you must login to Altium. To do this, simply open up Altium and hit the sign in button. If you are using you own Windows machine, just open up altium as you would any other application. If you are using caen, you should go to this link and type Altium into the search bar. Then hit the green launch buttom and wait for the Cloudpaging player window to appear. It will look like this:
Make sure the status column is ready and then go ahead and hit Launch. Some computers are pretty slow and this can take a while, but be patient.
Once you have altium open, you will be greet by a home screen that looks similar to this:
Click sign in and sign in with the email and password that you used when acquiring your license above. Once you sign in, click your profile image in the top right corner and hit Licenses...
. It will look similar to this:
In this licenses window, you should see a license appear. You should be able to right click on it and hit Activate License
.
Now your Altium account and licensing should be all setup. Just remember to login every time you use Altium and to pull from your current branch before starting to develop!
