+  Gespeaker allows to play a text in many languages with settings  for voice,

+  eSpeak (program + voices)
+  Python bindings for GTK2

+  ALSA (aplay) or Pulseaudio server (paplay)

+Support for mbrola:
+  If mbrola package and mbrola voices are available then the program could use
+  them. Just enable them from the preferences dialog.
