$Id: README,v 1.4 2008/07/16 19:58:47 toad32767 Exp $ ----------------------------------------------------------- TABLE OF CONTENTS 1. Compilation and installation of LibAiff on UNIX systems 2. Compilation of LibAiff with Microsoft Visual C 3. Using the library 4. Reporting bugs, submitting patches, etc. ----------------------------------------------------------- 1. Compilation and installation of LibAiff on UNIX systems If compiling directly from the source repository, it will be necessary to generate the configure script. This requires autoconf, automake, and libtool to be installed. % ./autogen.sh The default prefix for LIBAIFF installation is `/usr/local'. Prefix means that libraries will be installed on the lib/ subdirectory, includes on the include/ subdirectory and so on. You can chose a different prefix with the `--prefix' option of the configuration script. Use `./configure --help' for more details. In the following examples, `%' means the shell prompt for a normal system user, and `#' means the shell prompt for a privileged user capable of writing to the selected prefix. % ./configure After autoconfiguration is completed, it is recommended to manually inspect the Makefile to review the compilation options. For example, some optimized routines are available for PowerPC. % make # make install LibAiff will be installed as a `static library'. 1.1. Installating the documentation While the default installation script does not do so, it is advisable to copy the provided documentation to a system-wide directory such as share/doc/libaiff/: # cp MANUAL* /usr/local/share/doc/libaiff/ 2. Compilation of LibAiff with Microsoft Visual C To compile LibAiff you need to provide a <libaiff/config.h> file. LibAiff provides an example <libaiff/config.vc.h> file that you can simply rename to <libaiff/config.h> in order to compile LibAiff with Visual C. 3. Using the library Please refer to the provided documentation, available in different formats: MANUAL: ASCII text/plain version MANUAL.html: HTML text/html UTF-8 version 4. Reporting bugs, submitting patches, etc. Current LibAiff mantainer: <[email protected]>
