Troubleshooting

Issues displaying files

The most common cause for seeing a broken thumbnail or files returning errors on preview is that the cache has become corrupt. To fix this issue simple remove everything from the cache folder, default /tmp/efetch_cache/. All contents of efetch's cached folder can be emptied even while the server is running.

Large Files

By default efetch does not cache files over 2GB.

Slow Response

The most common performance bottleneck with efetch is disk io. A solid state drive is recommended. Also try using a different browser. Generally, Chrome is faster with efetch, but firefox has more features.

Browsing

Occasionally, efetch will fail to properly navigate to the designated page. Simply try selecting the navigation button again or refresh. This occurs most frequently when navigating out of an evidence item or when trying to view a large file.

Evidence in Archives

The current version of efetch supports viewing evidence items in archives, but this option generally fails with larger files. For example, trying to view a 10GB VMDK in a zip file does not work.
