Having this as a reference point is definitely handy though.

Perhaps the links should go to sfia-8 as that's what it currently is in the rest of the handbook now

The Made Tech SFIA definitions were deliberately deprecated as they have not proved helpful when used for assessment purposes, particularly for promotions. Which isn't to say they couldn't be useful in a different context.

With that in mind, I have no issue with these competency descriptions being kept around for guidance as long as it's made clear that the external SFIA framework is our benchmark and any additional guidance is purely to help interpret the abstracted SFIA criteria against individual roles.

At a minimum, I'd like to see a reminder that these definitions are not to be solely used for assessment purposes.
