A middle-click on a directory opens it in a new tab, but a middle-click on any other file currently does nothing. I find it convenient to use it as a shortcut for the "open with" menu.
Currently only works for the GTK version. If there is interest in merging, i could look into QT as well.

This prints a lot of warnings.

I don't see a major advantage in this either, since you can get to the menu just as quickly with the right mouse button.

For files, the middle mouse button usually does what a double-click does, which is to open the file directly (with the default application).
