ICL maintains a number of in-house research systems for use by internal projects.

The Saturn cluster consists of a front-end node (saturn.icl.utk.edu) and a number of compute clusters behind this front-end which are designed primarily for distributed memory projects. GPU accelerators are also available on some Saturn nodes. More information is available at Saturn cluster.

Many stand-alone systems provide access to new CPU architectures and compute accelerators like GPUs and Intel Xeon Phi. A list of systems and their capabilities is available on the ICL system inventory page (use your LDAP password to login).

ICL also maintains a 72-node compute cluster phi.icl.utk.edu. The Phi cluster is a homogeneous QDR Infiniband distributed memory cluster with 864 Intel CPU cores and 1.7TB of RAM.
