Enable your Apache web server to serve Markdown rendered as HTML
- Installs easily on an Apache webserver
- Renders markdown using the redcarpet gem
- Caches generated page in memcached for 5 minutes
- Uses Bootstrap from a CDN for nice look and responsive design
This installation is for setup on Ubuntu system.
- install prerequisites:
sudo apt-get install ruby-redcarpet ruby-memcache-client memcached
sudo service memcached start
- install
Markdown.cgi
in your cgi-bin directory
sudo cp Markdown.cgi /usr/lib/cgi-bin
sudo chmod +x /usr/lib/cgi-bin/Markdown.cgi
- include the apache config snippet to create a CGI handler that will have all .md files handled by
Markdown.cgi
sudo cp enable-markdown.conf /etc/apache2/conf-available
sudo a2enconf enable-markdown
sudo service apache2 reload
- work out installation on CentOS/RHEL/Amazon Linux
- move off depricated memcache-client gem
