Planned release on August 2015

New Features and Enhancements 🆕

  • The tool was completely redesigned for a new, more modern look. This "Metro" style is easier to use and more intuitive for users.
  • Increased the use of tabbed sections to reduce the amount of scrolling required when completing long forms. This makes it easier to find specific sections.
    • Existing tabs on teh Diagram screen were consolidated to improve efficiency and thus reduce drawing time.
  • Added "landing pages" at each major step in the process. These new screen contain instructions to help to user understand the purpose of the associated sections.
  • Improved the functionality of the Questions screen.
    • Reduced the time required for filtering questions.
    • Increased the responsiveness to answering questions.
    • Added the ability to change the Questions screen text size for improved readability
    • Updated the Supplemental Information section for questions related to the C2M2, NRC, COR 7, and Key standards.
    • Improved filtering capability on the Questions screen to include "Select/Unselect All" functionality. This allows the user to change the filter results more quickly.
  • Redesigned the Start screen. It is now called the Home screen and provides consolidated access to the major functions related to starting the assessment process, obtaining help, and setting options.
    • Added contact information for the CSET team allowing users to report errors or request new features.
    • Added information on the services available from the DHS Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) and how to contact them.
  • Added the ability to encrypt assessment files within CSET.

  • Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (C2M2), Version 1.1.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 8510.01, Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT).
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology Interagency Report (NISTIR) 7628 Volume 1, Revision 1, Guidelines for Smart Grid Cybersecurity.
