What's the impact of this?

Apparently this is just a rename. => Code examples and interfaces will continue to work with @smithy/* packages moved over from @aws-sdk/*. and for @smithy/* packages, the AWS SDK team is code co-owner and contributor, so you will receive support identical to that for@aws-sdk/* packages.

I already changed the imports for NodeHttpHandler
import { NodeHttpHandler } from '@smithy/node-http-handler';

main problem I saw was that some have experienced issues around logger aws/aws-sdk-js-v3#5006 (comment)
