Local Dictionaries

Manually Add a Local Dictionary

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Dictionary List.
  2. In the Dictionary List page, click the menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Add Local Dictionary File.
  3. Use the file browser to select the dictionary file you want to add, and then click the Add Local Dictionary File button at the bottom to complete the process.

Copy Files from SD Card (Applicable Only to the Google Play Version)

  1. Due to publishing restrictions, the Google Play version cannot access the SD card directly. You need to copy the dictionary files from the SD card to the app's internal folder.
  2. On the Home page of the DictTango app, tap Dictionary List.
  3. In the Dictionary List page, tap the options menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Copy from SD Card.
  4. In the system file browser that pops up, select the dictionary files and related files (e.g., mdd, css, js) you want to add, then tap the "Select" button.
  5. In the app's internal folder browser that appears, choose the destination folder within the app, then tap Copy to Here.
  6. If the copied files include .mdx or .dc files, the corresponding dictionaries will automatically be added to the dictionary list.

Automatically Scan and Add Local Dictionaries

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Dictionary List.
  2. In the Dictionary List page, click the menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Scan For Dictionaries.
  3. From the scan results, choose the dictionary files you want to add.
  4. Select Create Groups by dictionary folder to automatically group the dictionaries into folders based on their folder.
  5. Click the Add Dictionary button at the bottom to add the selected files.

Scan a Specific Folder

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Dictionary List.
  2. In the Dictionary List page, click the menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Custom Scan for Dictionaries.
  3. Use the folder browser to choose the folder you want to scan, and then click Start Scanning.
  4. From the scan results, select the dictionary files you want to add.
  5. Select Create Groups by dictionary folder to automatically group the dictionaries into folders based on their folder.
  6. Click the Add Dictionary button at the bottom to add the selected files.

Upload Dictionary Files via Browser

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Foreground Service.
  2. In the Foreground Service page, enable Foreground Service, Enable PC Console, and Run as Service.
  3. On your computer, open a browser and navigate to the URL displayed on the Foreground Service page to access the PC Console.
  4. In the PC Console, go to File Manager and click the upload button in the sidebar, or drag and drop files/folders directly into the File Manager.
  5. Uploaded dictionary files will automatically be added to the app’s dictionary list.

Upload Dictionary Files via FTP

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Foreground Service.
  2. In the Foreground Service page, enable Foreground Service and Enable FTP Server.
  3. Use an FTP client to configure the FTP site based on the information provided in the Foreground Service page, then upload the files.
  4. Uploaded dictionary files will automatically be added to the app’s dictionary list.

Download and Add Dictionaries

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Dictionary List.
  2. In the Dictionary List page, click the menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Download Dictionary.
  3. In the Download Dictionary page, set the "Download to" folder and choose a group for the dictionary.
  4. Enter the dictionary file URL and press "Enter" to access it.
  5. Download the dictionary file or archive directly from the URL.

Online Dictionaries

Add an Online Dictionary

  1. On the DictTango homepage, click Dictionary List.
  2. In the Dictionary List page, click the menu icon in the top-right corner, then select Add Online Dictionary.
  3. In the Edit Dictionary Details popup, input the URL for the online dictionary. Replace the part of the URL containing the search keyword with #KEYWORD#.
    • For example, the Google Translate URL for the query "test" is:
      https://translate.google.com.sg/?sl=auto&tl=en&text=test&op=translate.
      Replace "test" with #KEYWORD#, resulting in:
      https://translate.google.com.sg/?sl=auto&tl=en&text=#KEYWORD#&op=translate.
  4. Click the confirm icon in the top-right corner to save the online dictionary.
