Recipe "contribution as an archive"

rlaemmel edited this page Oct 6, 2012 · 1 revision

Summary

Submit a contribution as an archive file such as a ZIP file via email.

Note

Recipe "decentralized git repo" should be preferred over the present recipe. That is, everyone is encouraged to develop and maintain contributions in decentralized git-based repositories. In this manner, contributors stay in full control of their contributions, and minimum manual pain is inflicted on the gatekeepers.

Motivation

Some contributors may not want to use git for whatever reason. 101companies may support other repo formats in the future, but for now the only alternative is to submit contribution as archive files such as ZIP files via email. The gatekeepers are then supposed to somehow commit the contributions to a github-based repository under their auspices.

Process

See the note above; application of this process is discouraged.

  • Please, follow these steps:
  • Develop your contribution.
  • Build an archive, e.g., a ZIP file.
  • You submit the following bits to mailto:[email protected]:
  • Your email address and name for contact.
  • The archive (via attachment or link).
  • Your email will be processed by the gatekeepers as follows:
  • The contribution is reviewed in some basic manner.
  • 101repo is amended to include your contribution.
  • An empty page is created for your contribution on the 101wiki.
  • Your are assigned a 101wiki account so that you can edit said page.
  • You receive a reply (eventually) to confirm your contribution.
