How to configure a footer menu

Hi,

I found out that in hugo.toml I can enable the footer menu:

[params]
[params.footer]
  showFooterLinks = true

So far, so good.

What I was not able to figure out is how to make links show up there.
I have two pages content/impressum.mdand content/datenschutz.mdand would like to link to them in the footer.

I tried to add a few variables I found in hugo-scroll/layouts/partials/footer.html to the front matter of content/impressum.md like this:

+++
footer_menu = true
footer_menu_title = "Impressum"
detailed_page_path = "/impressum"
+++

but no luck.

What am I missing?

ok, I think I figured it out.

The impressum.md needs to live in the homepage directory. All files there are stored in the $sections variable, used by the footer menu.

It is important, that the impressum.md does not have a title attribute in its front matter if it should not show up as a section of the single home page.
