It has been the case that repeatedly over time, users complain about Zcash wallets not being properly sunsetted.

ZecWallet in all of its variants has been the case where its maintainer neither confirmed its ongoing support or actively announced a path for termination. Users would learn about this "limbo" state when coming back to their funds. Some of those times leaving them with the inability to access their seed bytes to restore and rescue the funds from another wallet.

This ZIP should define:

  • what an EOS/EOL event is
  • its scope
  • kind of EOS/EOL events

Provide best practices for:

  • assessing the descriptions above
  • handling EOS/EOL events in terms of usability and UX
  • sunsetting an applications to the whole username or a fraction of it.
