Affected Android

Steps to reproduce the bug

Play some videos

Actual behavior

Sometimes my AV receiver no longer seems to receive audio via passthrough.

I am watching a video, and all of a sudden, the sound cuts out. The HDMI logo blinks on the receiver. If I try to watch another video, there’s no sound either.

However, if I play the same video using the official YouTube app, the sound works fine. Restarting everything (Shield, receiver, and TV) brings the sound back in SmartTube.

I’ve been experiencing this issue for several updates now.

The Nvidia Shield is connected to a TX-SR608 AV receiver via passthrough. CEC is enabled, and in the Shield's settings, it’s set to manual mode. Dolby Atmos is converted to Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, etc., are all enabled.
