Checklist

  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the bug report will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one bug.

Affected version

25.15

Device Type

Smart TV/Box

Affected Android

Android TV 11

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Open SmartTube
  2. Start a video
  3. The audio starts to crackle
audio.bug.mp4

For reference, here is the video with normal sound

h987qy.-.Trim.mov

Actual behavior

The audio starts to crackle.

Additional information

  • Device : Xiaomi Mi TV A PRO 2025.
  • What is weird is that even if I go to another app on my TV after, the sound continue to be weird.
  • The only fix to get sound back to normal is to restart the TV.
  • This bug only happens with SmartTube.
  • The bug is not systematic even if it occurs quite often. I can have the bug on a video, I restart my TV and I relaunch the same video and the video plays normally until the end.
  • I tried enabling the audio sync option in dev options but that didn't help

A little fixe that seems to work : Options -> Player -> Developer Options -> Activate "Codec selection: prefer avc over vp9".
Only drawback is that we are limited to 1080p.
