Actually on the markdown preview format on github, you can copy the whole article with a simple copy and paste. All links and formatting copies over pretty accurately (including the photos). One thing i noticed have issue is the quoted texts. So to me moving to medium posts has little value, unless it automatically updates as md file updates in github.
m2m is other way round, medium to markdown. That conversion is more likely to benefit from a tool.
As @Guang168 says, copy/paste from .md into medium works surprisingly well. It usually causes some minor formatting issues (bullet-points break, in my experience), but so will most conversion tools.
