All dependencies seem satisfied and so running debuild ought to work no?

It is pulled from the git repo.

Probably this does only work in an Ubuntu 16.04 or 15.04 build root?

This should work fine on debian too if all the deps are satisfied. It looks like a bug in the build scripts.
