the cache is a lie
This is it. It was quite refined before. It is more refined now.
Many cache functions have now been disabled if the server size is small (less than 1000 players recorded for the server). This was done because caching for such a small server doesn't serve much of a point. Instead, the drawback of caching such a small player-base is that one player can gain a couple thousand points and shoot up from 500th to 5th and make the caching obviously incorrect in a hurry; much faster than can be done in a large server with large stats values.
