This is the parent issue for eval 7 infrastructure improvements. It is a successor to work begun under branch Tiga and may incorporate concepts or commits made there.

• find robust rpc mechanism for launcher-engine comms #1697
• full segmentation of launcher and engine
• define engine API/rpc interface (make engine callable) #1709
• use classes/dataclasses instead of dicts for internal data #1698
• experiments as yaml (not json) with a json-to-yaml tool for convenience
• continued expansion of results and unit tests
• nightly builds (easy to do, do they help)?
