I noticed that there isn't an upgrade path for this project, so I wanted to bring this up as a feature request (to help automate upgrades to subtitleedit).
Basically, the initial setup script establishes Subtitle Edit's folder as "$WINEPREFIX/drive_c/Program Files/Subtitle Edit/" . Practically speaking, this most likely is set to "~/.wine-se/drive_c/Program Files/Subtitle Edit".
In an existing setup, you can grab the Portable version from https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit/releases (e.g., SE408.zip at the time of writing this), then extract it, and copy all of the files from the ZIP to the path above and overwrite the existing files.
