Rails backend needs rewriting

Unexpected Behavior

I have reached the point where the backend built out for Tasteville does not meet the needs for my app and I can't figure out how to rewrite it for my needs.

Expected Behavior

I would like to create an association between "moods" and "thoughts" when a "thought" is created.

Reproduce the Error

There isn't technically an error, I am just lacking in understanding of Ruby and Rails.

Documentation

Include the exact error message, and if helpful, any supplemental documentation, such as screen captures.

No error messages.
