Quasar kills Kodi 18.3 leia & freezes when trying to access the information option ? #947
Comments
If this is an issue with Quasar working correctly on the Nvidia shield on Kodi 18.3 I will gladly revert back to 17.6 because I am wishing (once again after updating Kodi) that I had not bothered! 🙄 |
Same is happening here. (Both on Windows and Android on KODI 18.0 and 18.3) Kodi also crashes immediatly when selecting any torrent after search function in the main Quasar menu (but not using search inside Movies or Series options) This didn't happen before. |
This is dead. Take a look a Elementum fork. |
Actually it is not dead Pobux, I find Elementum slow and unresponsive compared to Quasar (I have tried Elementum and this is just my feedback from the experiences I had had with it). In response to jfrf - I reverted back to Kodi 17.6 and re-installed Quasar to which I was having Daemon startup issues when I realised that I had to move kodi from my external storage and back to my internal Nvidia shield storage, now all is working fine again. I would just add, not sure if you are using external storage but just make sure Kodi is installed on internal storage and not on external as I had issues with this in the past. |
Is no solution yet ? |

I'd use Elementum, it seems to have regular updates and it's working fine
for me on 18.4 Kodi on Linux.

Me too! |
I'm happy with it — One annoying thing I've noticed just recently is that when playing a show in a TV series, it quits around the 8:00 minute mark every time forcing me to restart the show, and then it is usually ok until the end. |
Expected Behaviour
There seems to be 2 issues which I presume are related to the same problem. So to give a brief overview I have been using Quasar version 0.9.78 on Kodi 17.6 for ages with no problems, I recently upgraded to Kodi 18.3 Leia and now have an issue that I don't seem to be able to remedy. 1) It should scrape the providers and return x number of torrent files to which can be selected and the download progress information is displayed. 2) When Information is selected on the quasar options to the right it should list the options (this is the expected behaviour)
Current Behaviour
Since updating to Kodi 18.3 this is now the current behaviour :
Quasar works fine and after the file search has been processed it returns the results using Quasar burst, now the issue occurs when a file is selected for download! it completely kills Kodi as soon as the file is selected right back to my Nvidia shield main menu and I have to re-load Kodi (This happens every time a file from the search results is selected)
If I try to click on the Information section in either Quasar or Quasar Burst aeons it completely freezes Kodi! and I have to go to the Nvidia shield home page and re-boot.
I believe the above 2 errors could be part of the same issue but I'm not 100%
Possible Solution
I did read something about Quasar kills the process if it becomes locked due to another instance of the add-on running so I made sure that I removed everything to do with the Quasar and Quasar burst aeons from the Kodi data folders (user data etc.) and did a fresh install of both Quasar & Quasar Burst but I am still getting the same issues.
Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)
1st Issue
2nd Issue
Context
This issue is really affecting me because I rely on Quasar as my No.1 add-on I use on my setup , I understand there is the Elementum fork but I believe that Quasar is much faster and reliable than this fork so I would really like to get it working again.
Your Environment
Using Kodi 18.3 Leia
Quasar 0.9.78
Quasar Burst 0.5.10
Android x64 - Nvidia Shield 1st edition
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/6VTSxvDx6K/
The last line of code is where the Kodi process is killed after selecting a torrent file to download, I hope you can take a look at point me in the right direction to diagnose this issue and get your great add-on up and running again :)
Cheers and many thanks for your time.
