On my SP3, side buttons are not recognized for suspend / resume and closing the typecover does not trigger suspend mode, even when the laptop is unplugged.
But, Kubuntu can't see the battery and seems to think it is running on a very small desktop with a screen, so that may be part of the problem on mine. I cannot see / poll the battery or measure how much battery life I have left.
@Choens as documented in this issue nuclearsandwich#6 the buttons aren't currently working. However, a patch has been submitted that gets them working, which is also linked in the previously referenced discussion.
Thanks. Still trying to get Linux running "smoothly" on my new toy. For the last few years, I just used Dells and I guess I got soft. Everything just "worked". This is a great piece of hardware, but getting it all working is a challenge. Reminds me of the old days.

Are your side buttons recognized for things like suspend and resume? Does the typecover closing trigger suspension?
