Is this a BUG REPORT or FEATURE REQUEST?:
question

Where would we add interview, podcast or other appearances?

Currently my idea would be that anything worthwhile say a panel or podcast would be done within the project section and declared as "role: guest". Problem is that this puts these minor things on the same level as other bigger projects.

One option would be to have a "project" called "interviews" or "appearances" that uses the resources to link to them and use the highlight section to add any highlights.
That would make it a collection that could be considered a project (in a really wide sense) with the ability to showcase awesome ones, but still link to most of them individually.
This method loses the date (could be added in the resource label so) and some meta information around it. Basically it would be distilled into a single label/title instead of a full item.

Adding these appearances under publication seems to informal in a formal section (not a book or paper etc.)

Not adding these appearances, but it might be worthwhile to showcase the various interviews or appearances to make a point (good community engagement, known personality, good interviewee etc.)
