Be Concise - Lower Quality?

Should I expect lower quality, specifically with reasoning capabilities, if the model gives a shorter answer, because I asked it to be concise?
I ask this because this feels conflicting with wanting the model to explain every step and provide reasoning, chain-of-thought, to make sure we get the best answer, with the most accurate final verdict.
