V58 hangs at dial screen

A fresh V58 (qtmoko-debian-gta02-v58.tar.gz) hangs on the dial screen,
only zeroes accepted upto 000 for emergency dial.
The AUX key works, and show HOME running, which apparently is the dial screen.

There is a valid phone card present which works with V56.
