hi, so as the title says, recently i'm having a lot of trouble playing the game because of these frequent lagspikes that are severe enough to break the combo and even failing the map in some cases, this makes playing long maps basically impossible to pass sometimes because of this and it's frustrating.
i'm playing on osu! stable and this has never happened before to me, I thought the lagspikes happened because of the beatmap diff calculation running on the background but when it finished the lagspikes were still there.
this is happening ever since the new pp rework has been implemented to the game, ever since I clicked on the "a new update of the game is available" or something like that this started happening, I also had an error that if I left the beatmap diff calculation for some hours a BSOD happened, the error was "driver power state failure" but that is another thing that I already fixed by deleting a bunch of beatmaps (I had 19k beatmaps before, now I have 18k).
my pc is really shit too but even when I had 2gb of ram before (now I have 6gb) this never happened.
this is really frustrating because even if I try to set a good score on a 20 second long map I really can't do it if I don't retry spam because of the lagspikes that ruins my combo and I even fail in some cases.
any help would really be appreciated, thank you.

my pc specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon II 160u 1.80GHz
Ram: 6.00GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5450
to prove how severe it is i'm going to leave a replay here because my pc is so bad that I can't really record anyting.

Please start by following the advice on https://osu.ppy.sh/wiki/en/Performance_troubleshooting

While you are assuming it is a recent change at our end, we haven't made any (and this is the first report of lag spikes). So it is likely a system configuration or software change on your PC that happened around the same time.

i did all of the recommendations but there isn't any change, and i don't really remember changing any settings when i updated my osu! so i don't really know

Please switch to the default skin, press ctrl+f11 until the frame graphs appear, then record a video of the game playing a beatmap in autoplay, then share that.

i honestly don't know if this works because my pc is shit and i can't really record properly but here it is.

at the moment of having a lagspike the purple thing is the one that spikes up, the "draw" thing
here's some screenshots too, first one is a lagspike playing a beatmap in autoplay and the second one is me playing that same beatmap and failing cuz of the lagspike

edit: i realized that the purple line isn't the only one to spike up when having a lagspike, the blue one "sleep" also spikes depending, the green line "update" too, so i don't really know, the red one too

Hmm, interesting that the spikes happen across all collection types.

If you haven't changed anything else, could it be a temperature change causing your system to throttle (either the ambient temperature or maybe your fans getting clogged up)? It seems like your system is quite low powered in the first place, which makes it hard to track down these kinda of issues.

you know i checked up task manager while playing a beatmap in autoplay in background and the cpu usage goes up to 80%, so maybe it's a temperature thing, i don't know, it's pretty weird tho because this never happened before, and i don't really remember changing any settings in my windows/osu, the only thing i changed was a regedit thing because i wanted to defrag my hdd but i couldn't do it because "program manager wasn't running up" or something like that, basically iirc it was TimeBrokerSvc, the Start value was on 4 when it was supposed to be on 2, so i changed it to 2 and restarted my pc, after that i magically could finally search things on my windows search bar (which previously i couldn't do if i didn't opened "ctfmon" using windows + r) and i went to defrag my hdd, but i don't remember if i changed that before updating my osu, and i don't remember too if i played osu before updating it with those configs so yeah, idk... also i changed the regedit settings back to 4 hoping that would fix it but it didn't

edit: after talking with a friend of mine, the conclusion may be just simply the degradation of my pc components over time. i have this pc since 12 years ago and it's a very old and lowend pc, so maybe it's just that. my cpu usage when playing osu goes basically to 100%, maybe because of the degradation of my hdd i had bsod's when trying to run the beatmap diff calculation so yeah. i don't really know if this has a solution

If you're running a newer windows version, it will show the core frequency in task manager. If that's dropping when it happens, then it's definitely throttling.

hi it's me again, so I realized something

i was playing normally with the lagspikes but I was still playing, and my wifi disconnected all of a sudden (I use connexion by usb cuz I don't have ethernet or a wifi adapter) and I kept playing, but I realized that the lagspikes were gone

to test that i wasn't being delusional i played necro fantasia cuz the lagspikes tend to be at the same places everytime and i've memorized which sections give me a lagspike, and they were gone, so I kept playing maps and there was no lagspikes at all

so this could've meant two things, either my wifi was causing some kind of trouble, or it's just bancho/the servers that give me the lagspikes

to test that I played on a private server (akatsuki) and my point was right i guess, the lagspikes were gone, i played back in bancho and the lagspikes went back again, so maybe it's that, but how do i fix it to play in bancho?

It could be related to changes you've made to your system to play on private servers. We can't give support to users that use this functionality, unfortunately.

hi it's me again

first i didn't made any changes in my system to play on private servers and i don't play on them, i just tested

also i discovered something recently, someone started spectating me while i was playing online and lagspikes suddenly dissapeared, i even played long maps and no lagspikes were there, that's really weird tbh, how does that even work? if i play normally the sudden frame drops are there but when i get spectated that doesn't happen
