Cannot build ngx_http_passenger_module as a nginx dynamic module after following the instructions from https://www.phusionpassenger.com/docs/advanced_guides/install_and_upgrade/nginx/install_as_nginx_module.html

Yes, unfortunately the passenger packages are not built in such a way as to facilitate building from source. You'd need to pull the full sources by for example cloning from github. I should add a note to the docs.

How I'm do that :
cd to passenger-config --nginx-addon-dir
in that folder run command rake nginx:as_dynamic_module CACHING=false

Then build as usual

note replace all occurances /somewhere-permanaent with a path of your choosing where you will leave the passenger source code on your server.
