Not sure if this is DWI specific.

Thanks for pointing this ! It more a combination of existing methods (that are already implemented in patch-denoise).

I don't see any problem to apply it as well to fmri (the local low rank a priori is the same no matter if it is with a time or a b-value axis ) :)
