I can perform a priori annotations on a PDF. It is recommended to use the annotation pipeline available, leveraging an Open Source solution called INCEpTION. The pipeline works as follows:

  • I log on to INCEpTION
  • I upload the PDF I want to annotate
  • I might be asked to define Data Structures and Labels of what I want to annotate and how: predefined structures are available for existing KPIs but you can create your own
  • I scroll through the document and search for the KPIs I want to perform annotations for
  • I convert the INCEpTION output into a format that is readable by the models (TBC ; convertor has to be developed)

I can also perform a posteriori annotations:

  • I run the report(s) through the engine (refer to I want to perform KPI extraction)
  • I am presented with KPI values returned by the model (format TBD?), that I can view online or download
  • I am offered a redirection (?) to the ad-hoc Annotation tool that provides a user-friendly interface for annotations. If so, I upload the annotation results file and follow the instructions

Once I have an annotation file ready:

  • I make sure that the file structure is similar to existing annotations files (IIS or link to example Excel file with annotations)
  • I log on to ...
  • I upload the annotation file in...
  • My annotations can be used to retrain the model
