Downgrade to web3modal or stick to appkit?

I'm facing issues getting started with appkit, mainly getting past vague/outdated documentation. I've been poking about in the repo mostly to understand the interfaces, which is fine.
Now I'm stuck on the web-component not staying connected when reloading the page, and I don't fancy writing my own logic and UI for something that is so nicely partially solved.

When looking at the svelte example on the example repo its dependency is https://www.npmjs.com/package/@web3modal/wagmi, which was, recently, deprecated in favour of appkit.

I get the sense that I'm jumping into trying to use the appkit packages in that precarious in-between state of migration 😅

Would it be an idea to use the deprecated package and come back to port to appkit later? How are others getting along?
