Is this project still active? I'm trying to add python 3 support. I could send a pull request with some changes. If it's no longer active I'll just fork it and break 2 compatibility - which would be easier.

Work in progress fork https://github.com/bufke/PyUPS

Might be breaking 2 compat due to byte/string handling. Would probably need to add six as a dependency to deal with this.
