fulness vs fullness #325
Comments
Looking at https://www.biblestudytools.com/colossians/2-9-compare.html, modern translations tend to prefer "fullness", and older ones tend to prefer "fulness". My vote in any case would be for "fullness" - it's my preferred spelling, and it makes it slightly easier to search for, not being a substring of words like "faithfulness". It should be an easy fix from the command line: Note, on taking a brief look through a wordlist, there are inconsistencies with fulfil/fulfill(/ing/ment/s), and one instance of "fullilled". Also wil[l]ful/skil[l]ful. Probably separate issues though.. Here are all the uses of fulness/fullness. There is at least consistency within books. Note: Isaiah includes one instance of "faithfullness", which should also be fixed. Job (Fullness) Psalms (Fulness) 50:12 89:11 96:11 98:7 Proverbs (Fulness) Isaiah (Fullness) 34:1 42:10 63:1 Jeremiah (Fulness) John (Fullness) 10:10 17:13 Ephesians (Fullness) Colossians (Fulness) 1:25 2:9 1 Thessalonians (Fulness) Revelation (Fulness) |
It seems to me that fulness is dying archaism both in American and British English, isn’t it? |
Probably should harmonise on one of these...
