Is there a way to tweak it a bit, so it is more a tip of the hat to the logo, than the logo itself? Maybe a play on the Montreal flag?

Not sure about the Yellow, otherwise looks good. Should we try to keep the colours Montreal, Quebec or Canada related?

I like the logo! It's definitely distinctively Montréal. Not my favourite landmark though; any chance of using the skyline and hill? Might not work as easy.
