Is there current art work for this? |
@ajmas - the current art-work is work-in-progress, heh, something simple I could muster out of Inkscape... For more inspiration: http://nodeschool.io/hexdex.html @nicolasgere can help fun-it-up and @CassieLR can add colour! 😛 |
If we could get something with the Olympic stadium? Hmm, any artist friends around? |
You mean that thing that's not even a city landmark because you and I are still paying for it? Maybe @alicephieu or @rvoulon can help find someone? 😄 |
We finished paying for it in 2006. - Just checked 😊 . Any other landmark suggestions? Biosphere? |
Should we post on the Facebook page for contributions? |
It may not be legal to use this logo, without authorization in writing. Does a citizen of Montréal who speaks french want to contact the city and ask? http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/portal/page?_pageid=5977,42999681&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL#par_courriel |
They accept calls in English too. I wouldn't worry about the branding problem. ("legal"). Nothing serious happens here. No persecution of citizens for being good people. Is there a way to tweak it a bit, so it is more a tip of the hat to the logo, than the logo itself? Maybe a play on the Montreal flag? |
How do I get myself on this email thread?? Can you take me off?

@ajmas <https://github.com/ajmas> Unfortunately, not with my design
skills. This took the better part of an hour.

Shutterstock has some nice Montreal-themed vector line art that we can adjust to fit our needs, as an alternate approach. https://www.shutterstock.com/image-vector/linear-illustration-montreal-canada-flat-one-568925311 I'll try making some mockups when I've got a free moment. |
Those would be much better! Awesome. |
Here's one mockup completed: For anyone who wants to make adjustments, here's the svg: https://gist.github.com/matchai/acd657c2c71613325768a3d72d88e366 What do you think about the colors? |
Not sure about the Yellow, otherwise looks good. Should we try to keep the colours Montreal, Quebec or Canada related? |
Red and white? I like the logo! It's definitely distinctively Montréal. Not my favourite landmark though; any chance of using the skyline and hill? Might not work as easy. |
I like the blue and white! Makes me feel cold. :D |
I like the blue and white too. Seems soothing, despite the cold :) |
@matchai Did you order some of these? :) |
Moving that conversation over to #50. |
Here are the final svgs, to be added to the repo as soon as #73 is closed: |
Use the Montreal skyline
