[Gitcoin GR11] NKN Satellite Miner

A new NKN miner running over and integrated with satellite Internet!

Bounty Prize: up to 20,000 USDT

Depending on which satellite system and which stage of accomplishment.

The Challenge

Integrate NKN miner with satellite Internet service. Starlink will be the preferred solution. If the contestant completes integration with another satellite provider (for example, Globalstar, Iridium, OneWeb, Project Kuiper), the prize will be half of the listed amount below.

1. NKN miners running over satellite Internet connection, side by side with satellite router (5,000)
2. NKN full node running inside satellite router (10,000)
3. NKN custom edition of satellite router that is plug'n play with a companion smartphone app (20,000)

Acceptance Criteria

• For tier 1 prize:
  • The NKN Miner needs to complete the initial synchronization and in a stable mining state, i.e. ​​PERSIST_FINISHED
  • Verified IP address that belongs to the satellite Internet service provider
  • Submitted video evidence of the working solution
• For tier 2 prize:
  • All tier 1 requirements
  • Submitted Linux console log of integration with satellite modem
  • Submitted source code on github of any customization and deployment scripts
• For tier 3 prize:
  • All tier 2 requirements
  • Submitted source code on github of the smartphone companion application

Judging Criteria

• We will require a demo of the submission over zoom video conference
• We will assign the prize to the best integrated solution

Winner announcement date

No submissions will be judged until the end of the hackathon and winners will be announced 2 weeks after the hackathon ends. Submissions Due - September 29th 2021. Winners announced - October 12th, 2021.

Run an NKN node through a Starlink connection on a custom-built OpenWRT router (including providing binaries). Because Starlink uses CGNat forwarding necessary ports is not doable.
To circumvent this router establishes a VPN connection to a VPS IP and exposes the ports that way.
