Amazon's interface is pretty impenetrable. I wasn't entirely sure I'd added the abilities you guys were asking for until it came time to try a deploy.

What I ended up doing was:

  • Going to Identity and Access Management
  • Going to users
  • Adding user:
    • called Nanobox
    • with Programmatic access
  • Gave them:
    • AmazonEC2FullAccess
    • IAMUserSSHKeys
