waifu2x.udp.jp is hosted on EC2 spot instance (bid-based service). Sometimes the server is down because the server price is very unstable recently.

They're not as good as the original waifu2x, though. Even the desktop version isn't.

The desktop version you mean waifu2x-caffe? How is it not good? I always use it because you can set your own magnification and GPU using CUDA or cuDNN processing is many times faster than using CPU.

Yeah, waifu2x-caffe. I mean, maybe it's just my settings that are set wrong, but the browser version with the highest setting makes everything look just perfect, while the desktop one maybe makes them look a tad better.

Maybe it's just the settings and the models for waifu2x haven't been updated for a year now.
When waifu-ing art or 2D-illust use UpRGB model and if you want to reduce noise, I recommend start with Level 0 always.

waifu2x-caffe is currently fully compatible with waifu2x. Use UpRGB model for resize. Use RGB model for noise reduction only. See #201
Probably other software uses old version of waifu2x.

Also, I recently added support for torch 2.0 model compiling to improve response performance, but for some reason the compiler cache is not working and it takes about 15 minutes to startup each time.
The server may be very overloaded immediately after a reboot.

Due to some problems, the website domain was changed from waifu2x.udp.jp to www.waifu2x.net .
www.waifu2x.net is not a phishing website. It is the same domain as https://unlimited.waifu2x.net/, which existed before.

I have set up redirect, there will be no problem accessing the previous URL.

Sorry, the requested URL 'http://www.waifu2x.net/api' caused an error:

I've restarted the api processes for now, but the cause is still unclear.

That error message has been reported in the latest bottle bottlepy/bottle#1470, so I have downgraded bottle version for now.

Also I recently started compiling the model at server startup, so it may be using a lot of memory or there may be a memory leak.
EDIT: changed to use torch._dynamo.reset() to clear the workspace for compiling.

On the server side, that error message was not logged, but HTTP 400 errors occurred in about 2% of the requests.
