This repository some notes on the basics of optics. The main focus is on building the very basics of optics from the ground up, and of course as intent to democratize access to knowledge, the notes are free and open source. The notes are written in a way that is accessible to anyone with quantum physics priors and including animations (and the code to generate them). You might still need a bit of context to understand core concepts, I am currently working on a set of notes on quantum mechanics here.
- Introduction
- Field Quantization
- Coherent States
- Atom-Field Interaction
- Quantum Coherence
- Beam Splitters and Interferometers
To run the generated notebooks, you will need to install julia and jupyter notebooks.
some of the resources I used to learn:
- Gerry and Knight
- Introduction to Quantum Optics course at Shanghai Jiao Tong University
- LMU Quantum Optics
- Courses on Optics by the Nobel Alan Aspect
