Make me a sandwich | Offline Activity - DRAFT

Overview

Activity Title: Make me a sandwich

By: Tina Verbo

Time: [aim for 45-60 minutes]

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding how specific (exact, precise, detailed) a computer programmer must be when
    programming to do a specific task
  • Learn the basic programming concepts

Audience:
Beginner – intermediate web user

Materials: [include both online and offline materials needed to complete your activity]

  • 2 tongs
  • spoon
  • mayonnaise/ peanut butter/ cheese
  • 2 slices of bread
  • blindfold

Offline Activity flow

  • One person from the group will act as the robot/computer
  • Blindfold the robot and make him use the tongs as his hands
  • Ask the other members to instruct the robot instead of spoon, bread, mayo/pj/cheese they must use the words: tools, objects, etc.
  • Robot must follow the programmers' instructions and make a sandwich
