I just started using Fira Code which is based on Fira Mono.
I actually dislike how $, & and @ look there.
Now I have seen that in normal Fira, these look nice and only look unnice in Fira Mono.
Is there a reason they look that much different in Fira Mono?
Would it be possible to change the Fira Mono ones to look more like the ones in normal Fira?
Or maybe as variants like it is for Monoid where you can select different representations for some characters on download?

I believe this is meant for readability in the Fira Code font if I'm not mistaken?
Designed more for @@ / && if I'm not mistaken.

The way it currently is, or the way I ask for?
Without the intent to insult anyone, the only effect these different desings have on most people (mostly developers) I talked to is to reduce readability and promote nausea.
And many refrain from using Fira Mono or Fira Code because they cannot stand look at especially the at and the ampersand.
The Fira Code developer also said, if he ever provides the ability to choose between different variants like other font developers do, the first he would provide an alternative for are those.

I don't think Fira is being actively maintained these days. It might be better to look into the FiraGO project and consider contributing there.
