Toggel mode full word/part-of-word

I like to use the standard keyboard shortcuts when selecting and moving between or in words.
Ctrl+Left/Right or Shift+Ctrl+Left/Right.
And sometimes you want the steps within the word and sometimes the full word.
So wouldn't it be nice to just have a mode to toggle in the extension with a shortcut.
So press toggle mode. Do your thing.
toggle back.
or perhaps
turn mode on
turn mode off

or why not implement both turn_on/turn_off and toggle
