I'm not sure where the most appropriate place to open this issue is, but I suppose trying both places doesn't hurt.

Is this still an issue? For me it seemed to solve all unicode issues by using Python3 instead of Python2.

Phabricator is the appropriate place, we're still swamped with work, though, so I really appreciate your patience. The work-around as edoderoo suggests is using python 3, because of course python 2 is unholy and evil when it comes to encoding :)
