Whatfor are the checkboxes beside the ingredients?

I can not discover what the checkboxes are for.
I can tick them, but I don't see any functionality associated with them.
No button or anything like that to add the ingredients to a shopping list.

They're just for reference so you can track what you've added to the recipe or what you have on hand.
