Overview

The purpose of this discussions is to capture high-level details of the architecture (current and desired), as well as the package dependency design that will support it.

I will slowly be collecting an overview of the current design here, please feel free to comment if I've made a mistake.

In regards to the desired design I'm happy for open discussions, but I'd suggest we first get the existing design documented so we can ensure we understand any existing constraints.
